I qualified as a Nutrition & Lifestyle Coach in 2015 from the Institute of Health Sciences, Dublin (IHS) and enjoyed the course so much and the insights it gave to my own eating habits and health that I decided to continue my studies and am currently in year 4 of a 4 year Diploma in Nutritional Therapy with IHS and am due to qualify as a Nutritional Therapist early 2018.
I have always had an interest in the power of the mind which led to my decision to study hypnotherapy and in 2007 I qualified as a Hypnotherapist from the Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy. I use hypnosis and hypnotherapy to help clients with weight management, motivation, anxiety, fears and phobias. From having worked with clients to help with weight issues and motivation, I realised that our mindset is a very important factor in weight loss as well as healthy eating which led me into the field of nutrition and the desire to learn more about how what we put into our mind (thoughts) and into our body (food) can have huge effects on our health and quality of life.
I was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) at aged 17 and have had flare-ups of this over the years. Looking back now I can see that it was a stressful time for me and this combined with unhealthy eating habits, I believe, contributed to the development of IBS symptoms. I was given a diet sheet to follow and tablets for pain relief at the time, which didn’t really get to the heart of the problem. Over the years I was able to make the link between my flare ups with stressful times in my life together with disordered eating habits and poor food choices and have managed to control it through a combination of relaxation techniques and healthier food choices that are unique to me and not a general diet sheet that was provided to me when I was first diagnosed and which didn’t take into account my food preferences, my individual symptoms and any barriers I may have had to making changes to my diet.
I strongly believe that people need support and coaching to make changes in their life and that our attitude can play a huge role in how we succeed.
So my aim is to provide support, knowledge and compassion in your quest for healthy eating and living, where you will be listened to in a caring and non- judgemental way and where your likes/dislikes are taken into account and where you will have the support and coaching you need to make changes.
I am also a Reiki Master and believe it is just as important to heal and nourish the soul as well as the body and mind through a combination of healing, healthy eating and healthy thinking that allows for a holistic approach to health & wellbeing.
I am fully insured and am a member of Federation of Nutritional Therapy Practitioners (FNTP), Nutritional Therapists of Ireland (NTOI) and Clinical Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy Association(CHPA).
